American Indian genealogy is a broad and varied subject.  If you are currently a member of a tribe, you will need to contact your tribal enrollment office for a copy of your pedigree and your local B.I.A. office for copies of probates and allotment records (for tribes west of the Mississippi).

If neither you nor any of your kin are enrolled, your search will be more difficult.  Most of the time, you will need to use regular genealogical records with an eye to Indian tribes local to your families.

Learning standard genealogical practice is essential to success in finding your native kindred dead....essential.  If you are new to genealogy, be sure you learn the basics, use proper etiquette, keep orderly records and notes and be persistent.  If you are not interested in learning how and want to hire a professional researcher, e-mail me. Payment options include credit card.

I have posted sketches of my own ancestry as well as photos of my people.  Most family rumors or legends of Indian blood are true.  The problem lies in proving the blood.

If you have a research question that is not answered by the "how to" material posted on this site, please write directly to me.
